U.S. News & World Report periodically rates the nation’s nearly 22,000 high schools and awards gold, silver, or bronze medals based on state proficiency standards, college preparedness, and how “least-advantaged” students perform on these measures. Prospect Hill Academy was awarded Silver Medal status for the third consecutive award cycle ranking it in the top 6% of all US high schools in 2012.

Prospect Hill Academy was recently granted a Massachusetts Promise Fellow to build capacity for its Academic Pursuits of Excellence (APEX) program which focuses on out-of-school-time academic support and enrichment.

Renowned author Andre Dubus III captivated an audience of Prospect Hill Academy teachers and parents as well as Somerville and Cambridge community members as he talked about the creative process of writing as well as his new book Townie, an “accidental memoir.”

PHA’s 31 Junior Journey student participants are gearing up to embark for Guatemala in less than a week! In addition to perfecting their Spanish and preparing for their journey abroad, the students have been keeping busy with a variety of events in support of this year’s trip.

On April 29, nearly 300 PHA students in grades 4-6 participated in the launch of PHA’s first-ever “Opportunity Day.” This new initiative is a unique collaboration between Prospect Hill Academy and local businesses and universities, meant to introduce students to the many career options available to them in their futures.

“The average boy and the average girl are different,” began Dr. Michael Thompson, author of “Raising Cain: Protecting the Emotional Lives of Boys,” in his talk about the social and emotional development of boys, held on March 8th at PHA's Upper School Campus in Cambridge.

Over 150 guests joined Prospect Hill Academy Charter School (PHA) on October 7th, 2010 to celebrate the opening of the school’s newly renovated high school building.

On behalf of all Junior Journey students, we thank all donors and sponsors for contributing to the success of the third annual Journeys and Destinations fundraising event which was held Wednesday March 10, 2010 to benefit the Junior Journey program.

On November 6^th, the Prospect Hill Academy Charter School Foundation held its second annual Journeys & Destinations event at the MIT Museum in Cambridge to raise funds for Junior Journey, Prospect Hill Academy's unique three week immersion program in Guatemala. Despite the pouring rain outside over 75 guests enjoyed drinks, hors d'oeuvres, and student presentations in the warm and wonderful atmosphere inside the museum.
