Prospect Hill Academy's first Annual Appeal a Success
In December 2009, Prospect Hill Academy mailed its inaugural Annual Appeal. With uncertain expectations, the direct mail initiative yielded nearly $18,000 in donations. Donations could be made via the provided return envelope or electronically via the school's web site.
The Prospect Hill Academy Charter School Foundation was established in 2005 as a 501(c)(3) charitable organization with the sole purpose to support Prospect Hill Academy. The Foundation is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors who ensures the adherence to the Foundation’s mission and the accomplishment of its goals.
Mission
The mission of the Prospect Hill Academy Charter School Foundation is to support diverse educational enrichment opportunities for Prospect Hill Academy Charter School students and teachers.
Current Initiatives
The primary initiatives for which the Foundation raises funds are:

Junior Journey
Junior Journey integrates Spanish language instruction, cultural immersion and community service learning during a three week stay in Antigua, Guatemala. The program combines four hours of daily one-on-one Spanish language instruction with local families homestays and service learning in an environment where each student can have a long-lasting impact on the people they serve.

The Prospect Hill Charter School Foundation, in conjunction with the school, is committed to raising the funds to cover at minimum 80% of each student’s Junior Journey expenses. The total projected cost per student in 2010 is approximately $1,800, with $1,500 to be sponsored by the Foundation and $300 to be contributed by the student.

Student Scholarships
In Spring of 2006, the PHACS Foundation began awarding two annual scholarships: The Leadership Award Scholarship and the Jack O'Brien Athletic Scholarship. The Foundation is accepting donations to fund these scholarships and is offering an endowment and naming opportunity for the Leadership Award for $10,000.

Faculty Enrichment Fund
The Faculty Enrichment Fund is designed to subsidize the cost of summer learning experiences undertaken by Prospect Hill Academy faculty members—with the primary stipulation that these experiences must enhance the recipients’ professional practice in service of student learning. The Foundation is currently accepting donations and offers an endowment and naming opprtunity for the fund for $30,000.
